In early February 2023, Valid CEO Fionn Skiotis, Paul Dunn and Community Development Manager, Michele Semmens, were delighted to meet with Tania McInnes and Jethro Hepton from Advocacy WA, who had expressed interest in VALID’s community development work, including the Peer Action Group model.
Advocacy WA is a regionally based community not-for-profit Western Australian agency, that provides a range of individual, systemic, and project-based advocacy services for people living in the Southwest of WA, who find themselves in vulnerable or marginalized situations.
Over two days, there was much time spent exchanging ideas and exploring areas of mutual interest and possible connection and collaboration in the future. David Hansen, Community Development team leader, facilitated a meeting and lunch at Watsonia Neighbourhood House with input, individual stories and feedback from the Banyule/Darebin Peer Action Group members. VALID looks forward to working with Advocacy WA in the future.
