COVID-19 Updates

People with intellectual disabilities are more likely to contract, get very sick and die from COVID-19. And a lot of people with intellectual disabilities haven’t been vaccinated yet.
We know that some people will need a lot of support to get vaccinated. There is help available for people with disabilities to get vaccinated in whatever way works best for them.

VALID can help you get vaccinated!

Contact VALID’s Vaccine Ambassador, Sarah Forbes, to find out more:

We also know that there is a lot of information out there. Information about Coronavirus – or COVID-19 is changing every day – and information can be hard to find. We’ve collected lots of information for people with disability, their families and carers and we will continue to update this page.

How to get your COVID-19 digital certificate

There are five ways you can show COVID-19 proof of vaccination to gain entry to businesses and venues in Victoria. The Victorian Government has listed these ways to help make it easier for you to get your digital certificate.

Call-to-Test – Reaching out to vulnerable Victorians

It’s really important to get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. People with disability can get tested for COVID-19 at home. This is called the Call-to-Test service. Carers of people with disability can also use the service. Call the Victorian COVID-19 hotline on 1800 675 398 and select option 9 for an in-home test.

NDIS Coronavirus hotline – 1800 800 110 then press 5

There are special teams of NDIA staff available to answer your questions and help with your plan if you press 5 after calling the NDIS contact centre. Open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm (local time).

National Coronavirus hotline – 1800 020 080
