Registration for Having a Say (HaS)

Registration for HaS has opened for HaS 2025.

An Easy Read Fact Sheet on ‘How to Register’ is now available.

Everyone needs to register so we can make sure we support people well with things like special dietary and mobility needs.  By everyone, we mean:

  • delegates (people attending)
  • support staff
  • presenters (Note they will be sent a link to register free, as they don’t need to pay for the day they are presenting)
  • exhibitors – but on the Expo site
  • volunteers (who will be sent a link to register for free on the day/s they are volunteering)

Registration Closes

So that we can do name tags, ordering of special dietary from caterers (who want up to 2 weeks’ notice) and organise Come & Try’s, registration for delegates closes on the 17th of January 2025

Cost of Registration

The cost of registration depends on the type of registration, that is, Concession, Support worker or full rate.

These ‘types are explained below:

  • ‘Concession’ registration rate is available to individuals who have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
  • ‘Support Staff’ – is not a registration fee, but a catering cost recovery in acknowledgement of the Companion Card.                                                 It is only available to staff, parents or carers who are attending to provide direct care and assistance (eg. transport, personal care, supervision) during the event for individuals with disability who are unable to participate in the conference without this support.                                                           VALID reserves the right to query unusually high staff to participant registrations, e.g. three support staff registered  for two participants
  • Full rate – is for anyone who does not hold a concession card and who is not providing direct care support as a staff person to participants with disability

Registration is now open, just follow

Fee Subsidy

An Easy Read Fact Sheet on ‘Fee subsidies for HaS 2025’ will be available soon.

To apply for a Fee Subsidy email [email protected] with info on how you meet the eligibility for a subsidy.  Applications close on 16th of November 2024.

The conference can only offer fee subsidy if an organisation

  • becomes a ‘sponsor’ and agrees that their sponsorship funds can go towards supporting people without NDIS funds to attend

So, if we 1) obtain a sponsor and                                                                   2) you meet the priority for subsidy of your registration fees, then you can apply for a reduced registration fee for the conference.

Who is eligible for Registration Fee Subsidy?

  • People with a disability (ie. physical, sensory, intellectual, ABI or multiple disabilities as defined by the Disability Act 2006) aged 16 & over
  • family members of people with disability

AND they

  • do not have an NDIS Plan
  • have a small NDIS Plan or their Plan has run out of funds

Plus they

  • are also experiencing financial difficulty
  • live in rural or remote area so have more costs to attend

Priority will be given to people with disability who are eligible (see above) and who

  • are presenting or performing at the conference
  • are part of leadership groups, self-advocacy groups and/or VALID networks
  • do not have support of a service to attend so they are attending as an individual

If you have questions or need more information on registration subsidy, please contact Christine M: 0475 698 884 or email [email protected]

We do thank the VDWC (Victorian Disability Workers Commissioner) for sponsoring the Disco event, which reduces the cost for everyone who attends.
