Staying Safe Workshop

Staying safe workshop

Everyone has the right to live a safe life.

VALID has developed a workshop to help people with disability learn how they can stay safe in their home and the community.

The key message is that the abuse of people with disability is not okay!

Each workshop runs over a two-hour period.

Sessions are delivered in a way that encourages participants to be part of the conversation. There are videos that identify and provide practical solutions to five common types of abuse. There is also advice on how to help others stay safe

Topics covered include:

  • Financial abuse
  • Neglect
  • Emotional abuse
  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse

Although these topics can be confronting, they are discussed in a way that is sensitive and respectful.
