VALID Condemns Current NDIS Bill

MELBOURNE/NARRM – VALID’s recent submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee condemns the NDIS Amendment Bill 2026 in its current form for dismantling essential safeguards and exposing people with disabilities to severe risk.

Introduced in May 2026, the Bill grants unchecked Ministerial powers to slash community participation and capacity building supports as early as 1 October 2026.

While VALID supports a sustainable NDIS, the proposed changes will drastically cap or cut vital supports, shifting economic and caring responsibilities onto families, unpaid carers and public systems before other supports are even available.

VALID’s submission warns that these changes could reverse decades of hard-fought human rights and risk a return to the dark days of institutionalised support.
